20 weeks! Halfway there!

I am having such a hard time believing that this pregnancy is halfway over! My pregnancy with Kennedy went by sooooo slow and this time it seems to be flying by! Seriously, it seems like yesterday that it was September 10th and I was waking up Nick to show him my positive pregnancy test.

Here are some thoughts about week 20:
*I am feeling great! No sickness and finally getting some of my energy back. I am still sleeping like a rock at night. I think my biggest symptom is that my boobs are out of control huge and still sore. Waaay bigger than I remember them getting with Kennedy. Not sure if this is because it's my 2nd pregnancy or because it's a boy or what.
*Cravings: Still apples with peanut butter and also tuna fish (limited to 6 oz a week)

*I am up to 10 pounds now with my weight gain but ehh, it is what it is. Holiday food is too yummy to pass up. I have been getting some workouts in at the gym over the break and I love to wear this hilarious shirt my bestie Ashley gave me when I was pregnant with Kennedy:

*I am absolutely loving the fact that we know this baby is a sweet boy and we can refer to him by name! He loves to move around at night, just like his sister. That's when I feel the most movements!
*Still no stretch marks with this pregnancy! Thank goodness! I didn't have any with Kennedy either. I love my Burt's Bees "Mama Bee" belly butter!
*Some other big moments lately were that we got our first gifts for Mark! My brother in law Jon and sister in law Rachael got him an adorable giraffe sleeper and my sister in law Gretchen made us an adorable burlap wreath with chalkboard attached. It is perfect for my weekly bump pictures and we also plan to use it on our hospital door when he is born. We also went and registered at Buy Baby Baby and Target. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't need to register when you are having a second child. There is still a ton of stuff you need, especially if you are having a child of a different gender. Just sayin!
*Big sister Kennedy is still loving to take bump pictures with Mommy and loves to kiss her baby brother in Mommy's tummy. Another big milestone is that Kennedy has officially transitioned into a toddler bed this week. It was much easier than we expected. She loves her "big girl bed!" I think sleeping on a nap mat at daycare helped the transition because she sleeps in another place besides her crib.

Excited to see what the next 20 weeks will bring! We have decided that this will be our last child so I am trying to soak up every moment of being pregnant as much as I can. Thanks for reading!

Holiday Recap

I hope everyone had as great of a Christmas as we did. It sure did go by fast!
The Sunday before Christmas I was feeling awful. Very congested and running a fever. Especially no fun because I couldn't take a decongestant. Being sick and pregnant is the worst! Nick took Kennedy over to his parents house for their annual cookie decorating event while I dosed up on Tylenol and slept. I was sad I couldn't go with them but Daddy took plenty of pictures and Kennedy had a blast.

Two days later, I was thankfully feeling better. We went to the mall to see Santa. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be considering it was 2 days before Christmas. The line wasn't bad to see Santa but unfortunately the line to purchase pictures was really long since they only had one register going. I was also super disappointed in the shots they got of Kennedy. The pictures below are ones Nick shot from his cell phone and they are better than the ones the photographer took, ugh. Kennedy enjoyed herself though and that's all that really matters. Knock on wood, we have never had a bad Santa or Easter Bunny experience. Kennedy absolutely loves Santa and was excited to tell him she wanted a baby doll for Christmas which was hysterical to us because she already has tons of baby dolls. Plus, she will be getting a real one in the form of her baby brother in May! After we left, she was excited to wear her reindeer ears they gave her and kept yelling "santa, santa, ho-ho-ho!" It was adorable!

Kennedy's newest baby came from my cousin Louise. The baby has a smocked dress on, perfect for my smocked dress wearing little girl!
On Christmas Eve, we always go to the 5:00 service at church and then go out to dinner at Waffle House just the 3 of us. This year, after dinner, we drove around looking at Christmas lights which Kennedy loved. When we got home, Kennedy put her cookies she made at Grandma's house out for Santa and we read the Christmas story from her children's bible. Kennedy had gone to a "Happy Birthday Jesus" party in children's church while we were in Christmas service so she wanted to sing to Jesus again, which we did and it was the cutest thing ever!

Christmas day was a ton of fun. Kennedy was so excited to open all her presents from Santa and it made my heart so happy to see the look of pure joy on her face! After nap time we went over to Grandma and Paw-Paw's house and opened presents and had Christmas dinner. Grandma and Paw-Paw gave Kennedy a princess kitchen which she was so excited about! She also had a good time playing with her cousins Lexie and Tristan.

The day after Christmas we went back to Grandma and Paw-Paw's house because Aunt Gretchen, Uncle Ben, Tabatha and Marley came up to celebrate Christmas with us from Columbia. Aunt Gretchen is a nurse in the NICU and she unfortunately had to work on Christmas. Kennedy had a blast playing with her cousins and exchanging gifts. She especially loved the Snow White dress up set she got as you can see from the picture below!

I love this picture of the cousins, minus Dakota, who couldn't be there. This will probably be Tristan's last "cousin picture" where he will be the only boy!

I thought Christmas was fun last year with a 1 year old but this year was fun times 10 with a 2 year old! Kennedy loved absolutely everything about the season and it was so fun seeing it through her eyes. I can't wait until next year when she's 3! We will also have an adorable 7 month old baby boy who will probably be crawling around into everything too, so much fun! We missed that age during the holidays with Kennedy since she was born so close to Christmas so I am looking forward to experiencing it.

How was your Christmas???

Gender Reveal! It's a....

On Saturday, December 20th, our family and close friends gathered at our house for our Christmas themed gender reveal of Baby Kaune #2! They were instructed to wear green if they thought it was a boy and red if they thought it was a girl. They were also told to bring a gag gift, which was quite fun!

I was really excited that my dad, sister and brother were able to make the trip up from Columbia. My sister waits tables at Fatz and my brother waits tables at a sushi bar so they were lucky to able to get a Saturday off this close to the holidays. My dad is recovering well from his stroke. He still does not have a lot of movement on his left side but is able to move around with a cane. They came early so that we could open presents and I cooked a ham and made some crockpot macaroni and cheese for a "Christmas lunch." My sister and brother helped me prepare all the food for the gender reveal.  It's very nice having siblings that work in the restaurant industry! :) I served the leftover macaroni and cheese, used the leftover ham for sliders and we had chili dip, pimento cheese with crackers, ham and pickle rollups, pasta salad and red and green iced sugar cookies.

After our guests ate, we exchanged gag gifts, which was quite amusing. My mother in law's best friend Linda is visiting from Missouri and she ended up with a dollar tree home drug test which was absolutely hysterical. She knits and does crossword puzzles and that's about the extent of what she does in her free time lol.

My brother in law Jon ended up with colon cleanser....haha!

Dad ended up with a Victoria's Secret Christmas album, woop-woop!

Ramen noodles for my father in law!

Love this picture of Kennedy and her bff, Janna. Such sweet girls!

Kennedy with my bff Ashley and her husband Kevin.

After the gag gifts, it was time for the moment everyone was waiting for, the big reveal. My co-worker and friend Kris made this box, which Nick absolutely loved since he is an avid hunter.

We took pictures of the teams first. Team red was Payton, Jessica, Becky, Ella and my sister Augusta. Jessica, Becky and Augusta were among the few that guessed that Kennedy was a girl and obviously were right. Ashley and my friend Brittney were also on team girl last time but this time joined team boy!

Team boy was my in laws, Linda, Jakob, my brother Bubba, sister in law Rachael, brother in law Jon, Brittney, Jessica, Joe, Luke, Ashley and Kevin.

Then, it was time! Kennedy helped me open the box. And....

Team green wins! It's a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark William Kaune will complete our family in May! We are so excited and feel very blessed. Nick actually got really choked up when we found out. There is only one grandson on his side of the family and Tristan will be 16 in February so it was very exciting to hear there would be another Kaune boy carrying on the family name! Plus he is so excited to have a fishing and hunting buddy. My in laws were absolutely ecstatic!

Kennedy is very excited about having a little brother and has been carrying around the baby boy balloon since the party. She even has it with her when she eats all her meals, so cute!

We do have a video of Kennedy opening the box but I am having trouble uploading it to the blog for some reason. Hopefully I can get it figured out and share sometime later in the week!

I am so excited to have one of each and praying that the rest of this pregnancy goes by as smoothly as the first 19 weeks has. Thanks for reading everyone and Merry Christmas!
