Oh hey Friday...I am pregnant! Friday 5 about Baby Kaune number 2!

Linking up with Oh Hey Friday and Five on Friday today. I completely forgot to put the buttons on, they are saved on the laptop. Publishing from my phone, sorry ladies! We are absolutely ecstatic to announce that Baby Kaune #2 will join our family in May! :) A lot of you knew that at the end of the summer we starting TTC and that I was a little scared. Thank you to everyone for their prayers. A lot of you also  know that I had two miscarriages before Kennedy so the first trimester is always an anxious/nervous time for me. Thankfully, everything has been going great so far. The heartbeat at our first appointment was 133 and at our second appointment it was 155. Here are 5 things about the pregnancy so far:

1. I have been much sicker this time around than I was with Kennedy. By the time I was 7 weeks, I had thrown up more than I ever did my entire pregnancy with Kennedy. No bueno, but he/she is worth it. This week (11 weeks) I have started to feel a little stronger but still nauseous at times and VERY TIRED.

2. People are not kidding when they say the baby bump comes quicker with the 2nd pregnancy. It took me a long time to finally start showing with Kennedy. I remember being at a museum with my grandfather in Kentucky when I was 24 weeks pregnant. The tour guide mentioned something about me being pregnant and I wanted to hug her because it was the first time a stranger actually could tell I was pregnant. I didn't even start wearing maternity clothes until 22 weeks. This time, I broke out the maternity jeans at 10 weeks, only because I hate that stupid belly band thing. I am really glad everyone knows now because I was getting a lot of weird looks from people who I could tell were thinking it but didn't want to ask.

24 weeks with Kennedy

3. Boy or girl? I have no clue and this time I don't even think I am going to try to guess. I really thought I was having a boy with Kennedy and obviously I was wrong. Nick would really like a boy, especially since we have decided this will be our last child but he has already said he will be just as happy if we have another girl. I honestly don't care. I would love to have a boy but I love being a girl mom too. As cliché as it sounds, we really just want a healthy baby. There is a lot of pressure from Nick's side of the family because out of 6 grandchildren, there is only one boy and he's 15 so everyone is ready for another boy in the family. We find out December 18th, which is my sister's birthday so we shall see!

4. Kennedy doesn't really seem to understand yet that she is going to be a big sister. However, she is still loving baby dolls and babies in general so I think as my belly grows, she is going to be more and more excited. We have asked her if she wants a brother or a sister and she changes her mind daily. :)

5. I am really excited about blogging about this pregnancy since I wasn't a blogger when I was pregnant with Kennedy. I know I have been a super slack blogger lately but the sickness has really taken a toll on me! I won't be doing the whole generic questionnaire thing just because I think they get a little redundant but I will post some pictures and updates of how things are going. I am also super excited because several of my blog friends who all have girls around the same age as Kennedy are pregnant and due this spring too! I know everyone loves to follow a pregnant woman's blog so be sure to check them out too:

Fall Fun

This past weekend was filled with all sorts of fall fun, including the pumpkin patch and Boo at the Zoo with Aunt Gretchen, Uncle Ben and cousins Marley and Tabatha. Kennedy had a blast! She loves her cousins so much! Boo at the Zoo has become a yearly tradition for us. Kennedy was 10 and a half months when we went last year so she obviously enjoyed it so much more this year. She understood the whole "trick or treat" concept and of course loved the Merry Go Round as always. They also had a dance area and she loved dancing with her cousins!

Picking out a pumpkin was serious business for our little diva this year. We let her pick out her own mini pumpkin. The pumpkin was her absolute best friend when we got home that day and had to come everywhere with her. She played with the pumpkin in her playhouse and even swung on her swing with her pumpkin. I didn't get a picture but the pumpkin also had to eat right beside her at the table.

I hope everyone is enjoying their fall as much as we are!

Monday Musings

Life has been absolutely insane lately. Kennedy has had this nagging cough for going on 2 months now. We have been on two rounds of antiobiotics, using Zyrtec, humidifier, Vicks Vapo rub, everything. Finally, today her pediatrician ordered a chest x ray. Praying it's nothing serious but we need some answers! She has had no other symptoms besides some light congestion but the cough really keeps her up at night. We should find out the results tomorrow.

Rough football season for us Gamecock fans. I had someone ask me this week if I was ready to convert to a Georgia fan especially since my husband is one, then we wouldn't be a house divided. Of course my answer was no. I have been a Gamecock fan for a long time and I have been through way worse seasons than this. I love my Gamecocks, win or lose. At this point all we can hope for is a bowl game. Congrats Wildcats on the win! I also pull for the Oregon Ducks, so the  week  before last was rough too as we lost to Arizona and fell out of the number 2 spot.

Kennedy had a blast the Friday before last at Disney Junior live. She was absolutely mezmorized by all the singing and dancing and was most excited to see Minnie Mouse and Sofia. We were relieved that we survived our first "show" and that she did great! We are now excited about the possibilites of other shows like the circus and Disney on Ice!

Last weekend the Phi Mu alumnae council hosted a charity yard sale at my house. Phi Mu's national philanthropy is Children's Miracle Network and we are so fortunate that the Medical College of Georgia (right over the river in Augusta) is a CMN hospital. All the money we raise goes directly to helping local children. We raised 452 dollars on Saturday!!! Kennedy has been named "future Phi Mu treasurer" because she sat in our treasurer Nicole's lap the entire time and helped her take the money. It was the cutest thing ever!

In other Phi Mu news, my sister Erin has stepped down as the lead advisor for the collegiate chapter at USC-Aiken. She is getting married in December and her and her fiance Jack are hoping to start a family fairly soon. The lead advisor role is a really big responsibilty and takes up a lot of time. My sister Melody is moving from the alumnae chapter president to the lead advisor position, so I have been moved up from vice president of the alumnae council to president! I am excited but a little nervous because I am already busy as it is, especially since as I also serve as an advisor for the collegiate chapter.  However, I have a great council with a lot of dedicated sisters so I am ready to accept the challenge!

Excuse Kennedy's pajamas in this pic, it was early!

Who has watched Hocus Pocus already? I have and I know it won't be the last time this Halloween season! My co-worker/friend Becky has actually never seen it which I think is absolutely insane. Her twins are in my class this year so I told them that soon we are doing a movie night they and their mom need to be exposed to this CLASSIC movie!

Oh and have ya'll seen that Facebook quiz going around "which character from Hocus Pocus are you?" I am totally addicted to those quizzes so I was so excited to take it. I got Max though...boooo. I was of course hoping for one of the Sanderson sisters! If you took the quiz, who did you get???

Have a great week everyone!

My Top 5 Scary Movies

I love scary movies. I love the feeling of suspense, sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting for something to happen. My best friend Ashley and I were roomates in college and we spent many nights in our dorm watching scary movies over and over again. Halloween was our favorite time of year. We would scout out all of the haunted houses in the area and hit them all up. We still both love watching scary movies and going to haunted houses, even at 30. I think one of our favorite parts of going to haunted houses is getting to hangout with the awesome characters from the movies we love! Yes, we are dorks, we know!

So in honor of it officially being October and Halloween quickly approaching, here my top 5 scary movies:

1. Halloween is by far my favorite "old" scary movie. Michael Myers is definately my favorite villian. That theme music...aaah...love it! Sooo creepy! Also scary for me because I babysat A LOT in high school for all the neighborhood kids.

2. Scream has to be on this list because Scream is what started it all for me. I was in 7th grade when it came out. I was spending the night at my friend Sarah's house and her dad said he would take us to see that "new scary movie" that was out. He made me call home to ask my mom for permission since it was rated R. I remember my mom hesitating and then saying "okay, fine but you better not try to climb in my bed when you get home tomorrow." I ended up LOVING it and went to see it two more times in the theater after that. This started my obsession with scary movies and I started renting all of the old scary movies. I found out that my dad loved scary movies too so he began reccomending his old favorites from the 80's which included the above movie, Halloween. :)

3. Nick, Ash, Kevin and I went to see this movie the summer before last when it came out. My Facebook status after leaving the theater read "The Conjuring is the scariest movie I have ever seen. That is all." Seriously, it is. I can't put my finger on what's so creepy about it. Maybe that it's based on a true story? It really creeped me out. Ash and I are trying to set up a date for the four of us to go see Annabelle, which is the prequel to this movie and comes out this weekend.

4. The new Amityville Horror is another one that really freaked me out. Ryan Reynolds was amazingly scary in this movie. I think another reason this movie creeped me out so much is that it's also based on a true story.

5. Nick is laughing that I am putting this one on my list, but I can't help it. Watching it back now, it seems so cheesy. But, when I was a teenager, this one was one of my all time favorites and it has stuck with me throughout the years. I think maybe because I had heard many of these "urban legends." All I know is I still check the backseat everytime I get into my car....

Linking up with Karli and Amy today!

So, tell me, what's your favorite scary movie? :)

4 years!

Happy Anniversary to my other half, my amazing husband Nick! I look back at all we have accomplished the past 4 years and I beam with pride. I love you more than words can say!
