Meet Mark! Aaaand, Kennedy is officially 2 and a half!

Our family is complete! Meet Mark William Kaune! Born May 18th at 7:22 pm. He weighed 6 pounds 10 oz and was 19 inches long. We are so in love with our sweet baby boy!

Here are 5 things about Baby Mark:

1. He is an awesome sleeper so far! He gave us a 5 hour stretch of sleep when he was 3 days old. Kennedy didn't give us that until she was almost 3 MONTHS old!

2. He is nursing like a champ and I am excited that I have had no supply issues this time around. He eats every 2-3 hours during the day and at night about every 4 hours.

3. He loves his swing! Again, very different from Kennedy, who hated it.

4. Only cries when he's hungry. Such a relaxed baby!

5. Loves his big sister and loves to watch her and hear her sing to him.

Kennedy has been an awesome big sister. She absolutely loves her baby brother! Here are some pictures of her meeting him for the first time in the hospital:

Our friends Jessica and Joe came over and took some newborn pictures of Mark. I thought they turned out great!

This one is my favorite! Isn't he adorable?!?!

I absolutely love this one of Kennedy and their daughter Janna, who is one of Kennedy's best friends. These two little girls love each other so much!

Also, as of yesterday, we officially have a two and a half year old in the house! I can't believe in 6 months, Kennedy will be three!

Here are some things about our 2 and a half year old:

*Wears all 3t clothes and a size 7 shoe.
*Loves to play "pretend" with her dolls and doctor kit
*Loves to dance and tumble! We have signed her up for a summer gymnastics class that starts in July.
*Loves to play outside.
*SOCIAL BUTTERFLY! Kennedy doesn't meet a stranger. She loves to play with other kids and talks up a storm. People constantly think she's older than she is because of her size and also because she speaks in full sentences.
*Still continues to be "all girl", loves to dress up and won't leave the house without a bow in her hair.
*Still in pull ups. Potty trained as far as pee-pee but refuses to poop in the potty. Our pediatrician said her son refused to poop in the potty until he was 3 and half. Lord, I hope that's not the case with Kennedy.
*Loves her baby brother! Kisses him allll the time and loves talking to him.
*Current favorite tv show is Sophia the First and favorite book is Pout Pout Fish.
*Loves to play with Janna, her cousins Marley and Tabatha and at school her best friends are Emma, Kylie, Creighton and Garris.

Her cousins Marley and Tabatha came to visit last week and to see Mark and they had a blast playing dress up.

I am linking up today for "Oh Hey Friday" and "5 on Friday" even though I totally cheated and did more than 5 things. Ooops, sorry! I had to make up for the lack of blog posts in the past 2 weeks! Stay tuned, I hope to have Mark's birth story posted sometime next week. We had quite an eventful labor which included a scare but we are so blessed that everything turned out okay and he is healthy. Also, my recovery has been much better than it was with Kennedy so that has been great.

Thanks for reading!

The day before induction....

This past week has been a whirlwind but we are finally ready for Baby Mark! The pack and play is set up, car seat is installed, hospital bag is packed, etc... I started my maternity leave last week because of some bad swelling. Being on my feet all day was making me miserable but I have never been the type of "sit behind my desk" teacher so I just couldn't stay put like the doctor wanted me to. I am still not dilated as of my 39 week appointment last Monday...no surprise there. I am going in tomorrow night to be induced and Mark should be here on Monday! In the meantime I am spending lots of time with Kennedy, going on lots of walks and eating lots of pineapple as always!

I am so ready to have to meet him and cuddle him but still having some anxiety about Kennedy. This morning she broke my heart. She looked at me and said "Momma I go with you to get Baby Mark?" Tears immediately filled my eyes. I explained that she was going to stay at home with Nana and Spike but she was going to get to come visit. I also kept telling her that I was going to come home after a few days. I am so worried that she is going to think I have abandoned her. :( But as my friend Cindy pointed out, the good news is she won't even remember this down the road. We have been doing as much as we can to make her feel extra special including taking her to Build a Bear this week for the first time to make a "big sister" stuffed animal. She chose a pink monkey that she named "Pinky" and had a blast making her.

This past week we also celebrated Aunt Augusta's graduation from USC with a cookout at our house. The next day we celebrated Mother's Day, which was extra special because I got to spend it with my mom and Kennedy together for the first time. My mom and stepdad flew in from Oregon the day before.

This week has been so busy that I haven't even stopped to take a "belly picture" and to be honest, I haven't really been motivated to do so. I am so grateful for the little boy that is inside of me but I am just not one of those people that has that pregnancy glow. I look at pictures of myself lately and cringe lol.  I do hope to take one last "family of 3" picture tomorrow before we go in to the hospital.

I will hopefully try to at least do some sort of birth announcement post next week but I am not making any promises...I have not been a motivated blogger lately. I do love Facebook though, so find me on Facebook: Carol Bennett Kaune. We are so excited to meet our baby boy and complete our family!

5 on Friday-woohoo for actually participating this week!

I haven't participated in this link up in awhile so I am super excited to be here! It's been a long week! Giving state standardized testing while 37 weeks pregnant is no joke! My feet are killing me so I am treating myself to a pedicure after work today!!!
1. We celebrated my hubby's 36th birthday on Monday! Very proud to call this man my husband! He is a wonderful father and such a hard worker. Sorry for the blurry Iphone photo but this was all I got! Kennedy wanted to wear her cupcake outfit to school for Daddy's birthday.

2. Who has seen "The Longest Ride?" My friend Jessica and I always go and see every Nicholas Sparks movie that comes out. This one did not disappoint! I loved the back story!!!

3. Anyone been watching Teen Mom OG? Gah...the drama is insane. Farrah is such a miserable human being. I don't feel sorry for her at all. I do feel sorry for Gary's girlfriend Kristina...yikes. I am not sure if Maci is really leaving the show because of Farrah but I hope she doesn't. I don't like Farrah at all and I obviously don't agree with her life choices however I agree with the producers, all of them have made bad life choices, including Maci, who is knocked up for the second time out of wedlock. I like her but she ain't no saint herself.

4. This is so late but I never got to blog about it. The weekend before last, my mom and grandfather came to visit. My mom had flown into Kentucky to spend a week with my grandfather. He has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and has decided to do a year of hormone therapy but he does not plan to undergo chemo or radiation. He will be 86 in June and feels like he has already lived such a great life that it's not necessary to put his body through all that. So, I was very glad that he and my mom were able to drive down for the weekend. We usually go visit him and my step-grandmother every spring break but it's an 8 hour drive and I just wasn't up to it this year considering I was 8 months pregnant. We had a great visit with them, just hanging out around the house, playing with Kennedy, eating out and having Pops experience his first contemporary worship at our church! He took out his hearing aids and said the music didn't bother him as much as he thought and he really enjoyed the sermon. Score!

5. I had my 37 week doctor's appointment on Wednesday. Still not dilated, no surprise there! The plan is to induce May 18th if he does not arrive on his own before then! Meanwhile, family members are betting on when he comes. I have to say I will be surprised if he comes on his own so I think it's quite amusing. My mom thinks he is coming on May 15th. Nick thinks he is coming on May 9th but I think he's just saying that because it's my sister's college graduation from USC that day and he doesn't want to sit through the commencement, hehe.

This is what you look like when you are 37 weeks pregnant and you have spent the day giving state standardized testing to 3rd graders then coming home, pushing a stroller for a mile walk and chasing a 2 year old in the backyard. It ain't pretty but it's real!  At least Kennedy looks cute!

We have really been enjoying spending time one on one with Kennedy. Next week we are planning to take her to Build a Bear for the first time to make a stuffed animal for herself and for Mark. The weather has been beautiful lately so we have been outside a lot. She has been super affectionate lately which I love but I honestly think it's because she knows things are about to get real....

I will leave you with some snapshots from the week: Kennedy and Grayson being silly after church, Janna and Kennedy at the park and Kennedy playing/cheesin' in the backyard.

I think that was way more than 5 things but I had to make up for the weeks I missed! ;) Have a great weekend everyone!
